"In Myanmar, the agriculture sector is crucial to the well-being of the country, with approximately 70% of the population (about 38 million people) directly and indirectly employed by the sector. In spite of the importance of agriculture to Myanmar’s GDP, farmers earn approximately USD$2-3 per day, very low compared to international standards.
In 2011, Greenovator’s two cofounders foresaw an opportunity to use technology to help farmers. As graduates from Yenzin Agriculture University, the cofounders had worked with directly with farmers and saw the real challenges Myanmar farmers face. They established Greenovator as a social enterprise dedicated to Myanmar’s agriculture sector.
